I have had the exact same thing occur, and I know of several others using
Generations who have too. I traced it to the light magenta ink settling by
carefully looking at nozzle checks before and after the shift, and visually
estimated the Mm check to be reduced by about 25%. I reprofiled and all was
well, but the new "green shift" profile needed modification to be as good as
an unmodified profile with unsettled Mm, as the unmodified profile was still
a bit green. A few days later, on the suggestion of John Nollendorfs of the
Wide Format list, I took the Mm cart out and gave it a good shake, and after
about 2 days of light printing the balance shifted back to magenta. At that
point the original profile was again accurate.
From this I would guess that the Mm settles suddenly and to a consistent
degree. Whether the settling is due to date of manufacture, time in the
printer, or both, I don't know, but the fact that shaking restores it makes
the problem somewhat moot, and I've saved my "green shift" profile in case
it happens again.
