Mike,
Before you take any recommendation seriously, I wanted to share this
experience with you. Two plus years ago I had a client who wanted a rip. He
then did as you and posted for recommendations on this list.
Over whelming the list stated that the BestColor rips has the best color
matching. He bought the rip. When I went there to do the profiling etc, he
sprung the Best rip on me. It was my first experience with this product.
After two days of pain and suffering, because I was untrained on the rip and
the support person was clueless, I got it to work. I have found out since
then this is a common experience if you are untrained on the Best product.
On a follow up, I found out my client returned the rip (with a 30%
restocking fee) and then went to another product.
One observation I had from that experience was that the ColorSync list is
full of hardcore techies who like to deal with difficult products like the
Best rip and technically they were all correct it is a very good rip for
accurate color matching. In this scenario my client had not asked what the
degree of difficulty was.
If you are considering any rip you have to look at more than its cost and
color matching capabilities, but issues like training, setup, maintenance
and support.
