This is good news indeed. Can you tell me what version of the

PhaserMatch software you used?
In a previous posting I mentioned that PhaserMatch 1.1 was needed to
create custom ICC profiles using a spectrophotometer. I was
incorrect. It is version 1.2 that is needed. Sorry for any confusion.
The process I use to create a custom profile forth 7700 is as follows:
Reset the 7700 to factory defaults from the printers LCD menu.
Do the printer gray balancing for Highlight, Midtone and Shadow, also
available from the printers LCD menu.
View the gray balance in daylight (5000 K) and make necessary adjustments.
Print your profile swatch from Quark (Install:
Xerox_PPD_Installer_v1.7.1 , to be sure you have the latest ppd)
In Quark select Print then select the Printer button. Go to the Pull
down menu: Printer Quality/Color
Select None in Colors and Photo in Quality, Select Save settings.
Select Print and select appropriate settings in the remainder of
Quarks printer dialog boxes.
Read the swatches into your profile making software, be aware of
custom black settings for toner based profiles.
Build profile and name it.
Copy profile into the PhaserMatch application folder that stores the
profiles for the resolution and media you are creating.
I can't recall the directory path as I don't have PhaserMatch on this
Mac. You know it in the correct place when you can see it in the next
step.
Open PhaserMatch 1.2 , select the third button from the left to
create a Device Link Profile
Follow steps to build your profile.
You will of coarse require a high quality Simulation profile to be
used in this process. If you don't have one try the supplied
Photoshop profiles: USSheetfedCoated.icc or the USWebCoatedSWOP.icc
At the end of this process you have the option to patch the ppd with
the new device link profile. This means you will be able to select
the new profile from with in any application that uses this ppd. You
will now see the new Device Link profile in the Colors pull down
within Printer Quality/Color Section of the print dialog box.
I hope this helps.
Download newest ppd. You need to get the CD from Xerox for the latest
PhaserMatch Software (1.2)
