It's very funny how the Photographic Equipment manufacturers have been slow
to embrace
the "open loop" of ICC profiles. As a lab I have found my industry
frustratingly slow
to embrace the future.
We have just installed and profiled a Noritsu 31 Pro. This is the same printer
as the 3101, just without the scanner and different main PCB software. The
Printer
itself is ICC dumb, but is very stable through a simple calibration routine.
We drive the printer through Kodak DP2 software (version 4.2.111) which is
color
managed. You have to turn off all Noritsu internal offsets.
The results are matching what we have been getting through DP2 to the Kodak
LED. It
looks like the 31 Pro is capable of a color space closer to Adobe 1998 than
the
advertised sRGB (although I have no data to back this up - just production
work).
We are currently printing on Kodak Digital III paper and are going to be
migrating
to Kodak Supra Endura.
Any others out there with experience with this printer/software combination?
