I had replied to this before but unfortunately didn't get through.
Before installing the Epson driver go to the Root /Library/ Printers (I
think) and remove the Epson printers folder.
Turn off the printer.
Remove Print Center Epson Printers.
Install the new drivers.
Redo permissions. Log out/in if you like (a precaution).
Add the new Epson in Print Center.
This should now work.
