Basic Calibration/Profiling Packages

I don't have the experience to give pro and con in relation to both these
items but we've used the ColorVision products in our Digital Darkroom for
three years and have had excellent luck and results from their use.
We keep all our monitors in what I would call a "similar looking gray
value" through use of their Spyder. I put it that way for we cannot afford
to have new monitors every three years. At present we have two brand new 19"
Korean (forget brand) monitors with adjustable guns, one Apple 5 year old
17" , a three year old NEC 19" and a 21/2 year old 21" NEC. So, you see the
quality and age varies a lot for a technically proficient working arena.
Yet, in view of all this by calibrating every two weeks we keep things
operating nicely for use by 30-40 different students.
The ProfilerPro and Doctor Prof software combo has kept excellent prints
from the 7500 printers flowing. The only difficulty we have is with using
too many different papers where we sometimes 'guess' at what profile might
work better with a certain 'new' paper.
