Well, first things first.
If there is an international standard for printing and an international
standard for blind file exchange, proofing RIPs need to support use of
the color managed control strip by means of which standards-based
proofs are verified.
There are proofing RIPs that do this, proofing RIPs that do this in one
sense or another, and proofing RIPs that don't do this.
Whether a proofing RIP that does this is implemented in a way that
allows us to be sure that we are getting the same thing both locally
and remotely is an important discussion.
I think this discussion is one we should try to get started because we
are going to need to orient ourselves in this wilderness. Burying the
discussion or burying our heads, whether in brackets or in sand, is not
the way to go.
So, what does ColorBus support by way of remote proofing and how does
it support whatever that may be?
Henrik
