Pantone Colors in general:
You will never print pantone spot colors correctly in a reasonable workflow
without taking apart files and hand putting in custom values into files.
Pantone has had a nine page email for a year now that defines all problems of
each major rip / application combination in the market.
The basic reasons are that:
1) You can not get the Lab values of Pantones without hacking them out of
something or paying big bucks.
2) You can't trap the spot color names and place them in a normal icc workflow
without creating other problems/ or manual labor
3) Most of the time the data you get from application for Pantones will
already have flaws.
If any one is interested, I do have a way to print pantones very accurately
without custom tables, without manual editing of files, without a wacky
workflow, and it will work with a lot of the rips in the market without a code
change, and BEST OF ALL without paying a license fee to Pantone. It also
doesn't infringe on Pantones Property rights in anyway currently.
If anyone would like to test my system please contact me off list.
