That would have to be two custom profiles, not one, because the
architecture of ACR needs two profiles between which it can
interpolate.
Cars are sold with automatic and manual transmission so why can't PS?
An other issue that I have not seen brought up is that a photographer
with several cameras can normalize them to at least make up for sensor to
sensor difference and then the only variable will be the ambient
lighting. Why not remove at least some of the variables?
The Calibrate tab in ACR 2 lets you create custom optimizations for
each individual camera body, which are then automatically used for
images originated by that body (it identifies the specific camera
from the EXIF data).
