Photographer needs monitor recommendations

A leak in my studio roof made its way to my old Hitachi RasterOps
monitor last weekend so may it rest in peace. Does anyone have
recommendations for professional monitors theses days? I am looking
for one that is at least 20". I have not found on the internet any
real independent review/tests that actually compare color edge to edge.
LaCie markets their Electron Blue line as professional but I am a
little skeptical.
Also, anyone have real advice about going to LCD monitors for
professional color work? I know there are issues with viewing angle
for seeing accurate color. Has this issue been resolved at all?
