Advanced applications like OptiCAL have lots of exotic ways to target
whitepoint, to make it more convenient; but in the end all a monitor can do for a
white point is mix varying amounts of red, green, and blue together to form
white. How you wish to define that is up to you. With OptiCAL you can also define
differing curves for the video card that are not simple one number gamma curves
(like 1.8 or 2.2) if you choose, but this level of control is not needed by
most end users.
