Doesn't look like much from my perspective [Which, admittedly, is that
of a competitor]. We've benchmarked CPSI vs. JAWS for instance in the past,
and CPSI was 2 to 3 x slower, so I doubt that moving to CPSI will do much
for BestColors performance (although I don't know how Ghostscript compares
to JAWS, speed wise). I guess for some people, being "the real thing" will
appeal, although I have doubts (based on past experience) about Adobes
commitment to CPSI. Moving from process to CIE measurements for calibration
also seems like a leap backwards. Density measurements are specifically
designed to be narrow band process controls, ideal for calibration. CIE
measurements are very broad band, and mean that you can't separate out
the individual channels behaviour very well if colorants are mixed, and
give you a poorer signal to noise ratio (higher measurement uncertainty)
when measuring individual colorants. From what I've seen, the EFI-CMM is
OK, but nothing to write home about.

Graeme Gill.
