(snip)
We need to establish numerical, objective, colormeteric standards and
tolorancing methods. SWOP and GRACOL are working in this direction.
It would also require us to us statistical process control on our presses.
i.e. we must learn to print by the numbers.
Hi Ray,
How about the existing Brunner standards as used in the QTI system
(printing by the numbers!) and the ISO 12647-2:2002 as proposed by the ECI,
ISO, Fogra, UGRA etc. All targeted in one direction?
Both Heidelberg and MAN/Roland heavily promote the usage of the ISO
standards for print.
Recently MAN/ROLAND published a great booklet on these standards in German.
The title is: Der Direkte Weg zur qualitaet (The direct way to quality)
I assume that they will release an English version for the other markets too.
The publication was made with the help of the German Fogra and the Swiss
UGRA Printing Research.
US and Canada are expected to use ISO 12647-2 and ISO 2846-1 (for inks) too.
Any comments from North American printers?
Regards, Henk Gianotten
