Kurt, you can download good overviews of colour management at the
websites of vendors such as Adobe and GretagMacbeth. If you are
interested in the colour science that underpins colour management an
excellent introduction is "The ColorShop Color Primer", by Fred Bunting,
which you can download as a PDF from the X-Rite website.

In terms of books, I agree with Roger's *first choice*, "Real World
Color Management", by Bruce Fraser, Fred Bunting and Chris Murphy.
Clearly written, in all aspects of colour management, from background,
through to implementation. Essential reading and wonderfully practical.
The colour management chapter of "Real World Photoshop", by David
Blatner and Bruce Fraser, is an excellent description of it's
implementation in Photoshop.

If your desire to become familiar with colour management is related to
your work, then there are some good workshops around. From personal
experience I would recommend the annual GATF colour management
conference (details here
http://www.gain.net/conference/brochure/index.cfm?ConferenceID=125). The
beginner track is a great way to get up to speed on the practicalities
and has the added benefit of you being able to ask questions of some
very knowledgeable colour experts.

Finally, keep reading this list.

Regards,

Steve
