Best Designer Edition for HP?

Does anyone know what the story is with Best Designer Edition for HP?
I have been trying to find some info on it, and can't find anything on Best's or HP's websites.

I am using the bundled HP RIP on my HP 20ps proofer, and am unhappy that it limits the resolution to 600 x 1200 when using proofing paper. Funny thing is, if you switch from "Best" mode to "Premium" it changes the resolution from 600 x 1200 to 1200 x 600!

I am trying to find out if Best Designer Edition for HP will allow me to run at a higher resolution on proofing paper.
We are having problems with outlined type from Illustrator printing "fat" and have had comments from clients that that type and objects look jagged. I am hoping running a higher resolution will solve these problems.
