I am doing profile work on a grand format dye sublimation printer. I
have a couple of problems I have not been able to work out yet. I
thought I would pose them to the group...
1. 4c prints (traditional transfer) - the current profile I have
created is quite good. In fact, I am hearing that it is very good,
except for one flaw; the gradients in some images are shifting color as
they transition from a color (red in this example I have) to white.
What is happening is the color goes from red and as it vignettes out to
white, the red shifts from a red color to a magenta color as it fades
to the material color. Everything else with the profile is very good.
This is the only thing I cannot get a handle on. Any suggestions on the
gradients? (by the way, the gradient is a bitmap gradient and not
vector).
2. Our printer also has the ability to print directly on fabric (with
sublimation afterwards, of course). The advantage of this is we don't
need to print on transfer paper first. The problem is the reds. Reds
when transferred are fine, but when we print them in direct, the reds
turn orange. I have profiled this condition with no success (i.e. still
orange). What can I do to help overcome the shift in color from red to
orange?
