Image resample effect on color

  • Subject: Image resample effect on color

While prepping some files for analysis in ColorLab, following techniques
from Real World Color Management, a concept came to mind and I'd like to
open a discussion on the following topic.

When resizing an image in Photoshop, what effect do the different resample
image modes (Nearest Neighbor, Bicubic & bilinear) have on an images color,
if any?

What sparked this was how Nearest Neighbor was recommended when resizing a
scanned target to 1 pixle per color.

From my own experimentation the effect seems negligible but thought I'd
ask...
