Brightness as in L luminosity or brightness of colour?
The jury is still out on realistic user situations. Seems that the heat
factor can certainly destroy the plastic materials and lamps up to the point
of yellowing or coloration and zone discoloration. The better LCD's have
good ventilation for the lamps thus better longevity. In any case they
definitely do change according to my eyes even if this is due to the plastic
aging rather than the LC layer.
I suppose this makes the comparison dissimilar as the CRT's phosphor change
yet the glass not.
