I just got Panther and a Canon i960 printer.
I'm suspicious of the color processing pipeline in printing and
wondering if there is any way to get an audit trail of the conversions,
like syslog debug messages or something like that.
If I print from photoshop (print space same-as-source) and set the
print driver Color Options to Colorsync and printer profile to
"Recommend by Canon" (there ARE no other options!?) I get somewhat
washed out prints.
If I set the Color Options to None and have photoshop convert to a
Canon supplied profile appropriate for the media, I get rather
different (and better) results. This is fine for printing in
photoshop, but I have other applications I like to print from that rely
on the print system to convert to the destination profile downstream.
With my old Epson I got roughly the same results via both paths.
