The Heidelberg rip that comes with the HP50PS only supports
(as I understand) Absolute Colorimetric conversions from the
Press Profile to the Printer colorspace.
As proper Abs Col ICC profiles are difficult to achieve, I was
wondering if the ICC profile could refer this rendering response
to Perceptual or Rel Col (meaning to edit the profile and
rearrange it).

Do you wish to end up with Absolute Perceptual? The AbCol
values are figured from the table in the RelCol slot, so
whatever you place there will get Absolutized in such a process.

What I wish is that the rip takes the relative colorimetric
or perceptual tables instead.
This rip does not allow rendering intents other than Abs Col.
Alejandro, you are right: when you choose "Color Management
for Proofing", the color conversion from the Press space to the
printer is forced to be Abs Col in the HP 50PS RIP.
However, you have the option of selecting "Color Management
for Printing", and in this case, you'll able to choose the
rendering intent you want to apply.
Obviously, this workflow requires an additional step, for
you need to convert your original file to the Press Colorspace
BEFORE feeding the RIP with it -- that's precisely the difference
between 'proofing' and 'printing': no press conversion.
You can do that with Photoshop or, if you are working with
TIFF files, use tifficc.exe, available at www.littlecms.com.
