LCD bucks and bang

I never paid too much attention to LCD displays, but a recent job shift has put me in an apartment with enough electromagnetic interference to make my CRT displays basically unusable.

Of course having an Apple setup the obvious first options are the 17 or 20 inch LCDs from Apple. They seem to be a known quantity, but I'd also like to get a sense if there is anything else out there that provides a good value. Also, I have a DVI video card, not an ADC one so that is a strike against the apple displays. That and I'm also used to 1600x1200 on my primary CRT which the 17" can't compete with. There seem to be a lot of LCD displays on the market so any casual brand/model name dropping to help narrow my focus would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

-john
