Hi,
Has anyone used this scanner with Mac OSX? Epson advertises & promotes, in
all their literature and on-line product information, the built-in ability
to "restore" faded photos and slides, and negatives that have "turned." One
would naturally assume that this feature would be available for use on all
scans. But, after figuratively turning the software upside down and shaking
it, I think I've uncovered a problem -- it seems you can only use the "color
restore" feature when printing directly to a printer connected to the
computer.
I can find no way to save a scan that has been "color restored." I can find
no way to use a custom input profile in this "color restore" mode. I cannot
find a way to "convert" to a custom output profile before printing, because
the Canon i950 driver only gives you the option of "Canon recommended
profile," not a custom one of your choosing; so you have to convert in
Photoshop before printing -- which it seems you can't do, if indeed you can
only scan & immediately print.
This is deceptive marketing if indeed true, isn't it?
Does anyone have thoughts or information? If this is the case, it is
unacceptable for me, and not the application for which I bought the scanner.
Thx, Deb
