Adim,
I presume you are referring to a networked PostScript printer? Or are
you trying to print to a raster (inkjet) printer with a networking
option installed?
In the case of printing to the networked PostScript printer, Mac OS X
v10.0 through 10.2.x uses PostScript color management, introduced in
PostScript Level 2. All source color spaces are converted to
device-independent color by the Mac OS X printing system (using
ColorSync), and color matching happens in your printer. In this case,
the printer's profile is not registered, because it is not used by the
operating system. The only ways to affect the color matching on the
device is to either create a new CRD for your printer (some 3rd-party
apps can do this), or to use a color server to match color and forward
the pre-matched data to the printer.
Panther will have the ability to do on-host color management, so that
color is matched on your computer using input and output profiles, and
will also allow you to assign profiles to networked devices.

I'm stuck on a really simple thing. I'm trying to set a profile for a
network connected printer in OSX.
The device is not registered in the ICC profile database, and I find no
way
to get it added. The printer obviously is present in print center.
What to do?
Best regards, Adim Lundin
