Then from Jim we read...
Then there a product that has been transitioning to Xrite. It was
originally called Benchmark. I am not sure of the exact new name. It
might be something like ColorShop Pro Plus, but that was just a guess.
Originally Benchmark cost $400 and it was cross platform. Hopefully
someone from Xrite will shed some light on this.

Walter, Jim,
I'll apologize in advance if this sounds too much like a commercial, but
you asked and I really like this program...
PrintCheck is the program Jim was referring to. This is only loosely
based on the original Benchmark application. PrintCheck does everything
that Walter is asking for (tracks any combination of Color, Density,
Dot, Hue Error, Grayness) and pass/fails based on the target criteria.
It connects to instruments from a spot reading densitometer,
spectrodensitometers, strip readers even sphere instruments. It does
allow storage of the results in a supplied local database (or your
choice of commercial or open source ODBC or SQL compliant DB's.) From
this stored data you can then Analyze using an assortment of tools, in
addition to the full suite of ColorShopX tools...
Probably the most unique item is it can do this for a single device with
all tools sitting on one computer or separating out the client measuring
portion to your local proofing device(s) and sending via tcp/ip the data
to the server for later analysis, or instant email notification of
failed proofs, if desired. Each component can exist on either a Mac
(OSX) or Win (XP,2000) machine for flexibility.
The easiest way to understand all of the options is to see it in action
We will be showing it off at Graph Expo, come on by.
