For those that have been following this thread here is a summary of the replies I have received so far. Here are the vendors that have offerings. Some offer way more than just proof verification.
Note: These are in no particular order!
1. BasICColor Control

2. Benchmark by Chromaticity - information is very limited - whether they are still selling it has not been confirmed.

3. PrintCheck by X-Rite - good luck - information is hard to find on this site
www.xrite.com
4. ProofCheck Pro by SouthWest Software - ProofCheck, ProofCheck Remote, PlateCheck, PressMaster, ColorNotes

5. ColorMetrix by ColorMetrix
http://www.colormetrix.com
6. Home-grown
All you need is a control strip system (like the MediaWedge from www.fogra.org ), a strip reader and Excel. You append the control strip on output. Read it and import the data into Excel where you can compute the change.
As you can imagine, each of these solutions has its strengths. But since #6 is the cheapest and simplest form I would first be interested in finding out just how difficult it would be set up such a system. If anyone has advice on how to accomplish #6 using an X-Rite DTP41, I would appreciate your advice. (The portion I need are the software that would be able to collect the data using the DTP41 (to drive it) and secondly, the Excel program to calculate and track the data. - Sorry, but I am not a programmer.)
