I've installed the Colorburst demo, and ran into an issue: it doesn't
support our Digital Swatchbook for its linearization. CB uses
Chromacapture to read in the measurements, and it does seem to offer a
file import option when making the lin file. Otherwise, I could
directly
edit the linearization data file, if I knew how to.
Does anyone know if one of these options will work, and if so, could
you
tell me hoe to do it?
Seems to me they're fairly clear what instruments they support so I
don't know if it's fair to say that this is an "issue" with ColorBurst
or ChromaCaptuure. I downloaded a couple of their docs and they only
ever mention the DTP41, Eye-One and Spectrolino/Spectroscan as
measurement instruments.
As far as editing the lin file, open one up in a text editor and you'll
see that they're simply looking for Status T CMYK densities and Lab
values. Import this into Excel and you should have a fairly easy time
of entering these values. Better yet, if X-Rite's Tool Crib supports
the Digital Swatchbook (I have no idea if it does) then you could use
X-Key to directly enter these values. You should have some sample lin
files from your demo install that you can open and check out.
If it was me, I'd be scouring eBay for a used DTP41 (generally under
$1K) and be done with it!

Terry
