Platform comparisons...

OK, now that the market is getting mature and the playing field is getting more and more level, I'm curious as to what the real differences between using a Wintel platform and a Mac platform.

I'm not asking this question to start any kind of "My thing is better than your thing" flame - I genuinely want to know (because I truly don't know).

If anyone out there could help me fill in the blanks, I'd really appreciate it.

Tell me anything, Tell me everything - from novice use and perception through professional use and everything in between, what tools there are (or are not), what individual user experience is like (or lack thereof) to an in depth technological review/analysis of each platform. Including things like Photo iPod and syncing with cell phones, as well as in depth stuff on color management, Apple's built in PDF capabilities - anything at all that relates to how these two platforms handle the creation, editing, use and sharing of images, from a first time users eyes through a consumer up to a prosumer/professional user, and why they would choose one platform over another.

Feel free to contact me off list if you think the information you are offering isn't appropriate to share with the list in general (such as the horror story you mom had when she tried to download her photos from her cell phone to iPhoto and then to the Television or something like that).

I'm interested in both personal opinions (If you hate this platform or that, this is your opportunity to vent - but please, not to the list - send those kinds of responses to me personally, please). through your deepest technical insights on what these variances or commonalities are.

I appreciate anything that you all can offer.

Thanks

Mark Jaress
