Yes I see another imperative. You'd better use a non illuminant metamerism sensitive print/printer. As good as all the matching might be , if you have illuminant metamerism all bets are off. So a Lambda, Fuji Frontier on RA4 or HP dyes on the DJ 30/130 would do better than any others.
Another comment on measuring with the i1. It's not so simple as just taking spot readings on surfaces as they have different reflection values and surface depths. The i1 measures flat paper surfaces very well yet other materials are not often close to what your eye would see. So it may help to have a reference, it's unlikely not be very accurate. There are spherical spectros with different geometry that accomplish these types of readings successfully.
