Instead of creating a shadow layer in the RGB image, why not consider
placing the RGB image WITHOUT that shadow layer and instead use InDesign's
own Drop Shadow feature? That's how I do it on my placed RGB image and the
beauty of this technique is that the generated drop shadow is then made out
of K only ;-)
