I'm sure squashing everything down to standard SWOP works, and has
worked for a long time,
but it's time to move on, and overcome the limitations this imposes. The
upsurge in wanting/expecting
to profile actual presses is a sign that there is no longer complete
satisfaction with trying to
standardize on something like SWOP. The ECI is an example of a large
industry group that
are firmly moving in this direction. (ie. compare PDF/X-1 with PDF/X-3).
