Color Start Up

Hi all,

I am a designer starting up with colour management. My setup is a Lacie
Electron Blue IV screen, HP10PS printer and proofmaster Adesso! rip. I
use Adobe Photoshop and Freehand. Can anybody recommend an easy colour
setup for this system? I use Adobe RGB in PS generally before converting
to CMYK but have problems with colours, especially black changing
(lightening) when moving from PS to Freehand.

Advice, recommendations gratefully received,
