We've got an old Arcus II kicking around that we use from time to time
to
scan 8 x 10 transparencies so I thought I'd profile it. I generated a
profile in PM but it will not show up in the FotoLook software.
Interestingly, profiles for our Imacon DO show up, along with the
bundled
Arcus profiles (two for Tx and one for Rx). I've tried the usual stuff
like changing type & creator codes, but I think there must be some kind
of
internal secret sauce that tells FotoLook which profiles are Agfa
generated and which ones aren't. I am assuming that the Imacon profiles
have been created with some kind of Agfa profiling software? annoying
that
the FotoLook software won't see other legitimate scanner profiles in the
ColorSync folder. My only recourse would be to assign the scanner
profile
in PS, but that's just an extra step that I'd rather avoid if I can
figure
out a way to trick the Agfa scanner profile into recognizing my new
ProfileMaker profile. I mean, they're both of German persuasion...they
should get along, right? <g>
Any thoughts on how I might do this?

It should be easy enough to send the tif
to someone with the ColorTune software.
It may not be as elegant as cracking the code,
but, it seems, it should work.
Maybe their reference codes have Agfa specific code in them
so it may involve mailing the chart as well.
