You certainly won't get 200 cd/m2 out of the Artisan, but I have the
Artisan and the CG21 sitting side by side, and the black on my
Artisan is visibly much darker than that of the CG21. Have you tried
any of the Fine Art settings for the Artisan? They really do deliver
an honest-to-goodness 500:1 contrast ratio in <32lux ambient.
And while it's possible to drive the CG21 at 200cd/m2, I think I see
why EIZO recommends that you don't exceed 120. Strange things happen
to the gamut when you drive the ColorEdge really, really bright.
I love the sharpness of the EIZO. I like its low power consumption,
and the ability to move it with one hand. I wish bad things on the
person who designed the front panel controls-embossed black symbols
on black buttons on a black bezel are not particularly readable! But
I still keep going back to the Artisan for making fine judgements on
tone and color. Maybe it's just me...
