May be the puck is not placed really flat on the screen, and that way
ambient light might interfere with its readings? Also, there should be no
light source shining directly on the screen.
Try to shield the screen using a hood or better turn the lights off,
running the calibration process in a really dark room.
Solved the problem for me (first time I used the spyder, I also had an
inexplicable magenta cast - but on apple cinema display).
