Hello all, this is a little late cause' been real busy.
Report from my point of view.
Gave a seminar called Color Management Pitfalls and How to How to
Avoid Them.
First and foremost I wish to thank those persons that helped make this
possible.
Steve Upton of Chromix
Roy Bohnen of Chromaticity
John Fitzpatrick of Colormall
I was told to expect only about 40 or so attendees, because it was the
first day of the show,
and the start time was 7:00AM
The morning of my session the actual count was easily three to four
times that ( 150 to 200)
We had allowed a question and answer session for the last 15 minutes.
That Q &A period
continued for an hour after the seminar was over. Lot's of people,
hungry for information.
A number of people told me after, that it was the first CM seminar they
really got something useful from.
I did a really good job on monitor profiling and why. When I get a
little more time I'll share
what I did( I think I'll post a small pps file for download on my
website)
On the floor.
The Monaco OPix drew a lot of attention due to the fact that it will
also read ambient light with a little clip on dome
(just like a light meter) ( or your light booth) then you can enter
that value into you monitors white point. ( Eyeone also does this)
Lots of interest at the Gretag booth for Eyeone information .
Brochures were snapped up at a record pace.
While getting some info about PM5 (can I say that?) from Paul Hultgren
of GMB,I discovered I had just missed Andrew Rodney .
I wanted to discuss some rgb (real good beer) for all of his continued
help, not only to me personally but to the entire group.
First color management seminar I ever went to was a free one at Apple
given by Andrew about 4 years ago.
When show was winding down to the last hour or so there were still some
folks at the Digital Work flow area for the last demonstration.
This included photography of a model, file downloaded to mac camera
profile applied, file moved to retouching station, then sent to
Fuji frontier or Epson printer where profiles were applied at the
printer. This entire process was mere minutes with excellent results.
Glad to see that most photographic (RA4) printers can apply profiles in
the printer software so you don't need to convert first.
Most of the other demos ( that I could see) going on at the same time
had little or no audience.
All the Best
