Apparently the US government has been leaning on Adobe (and presumably)
others to add anti-counterfeiting features for years, but up until now
it's been ridiculous stuff ("Can you make sure that it won't reproduce
bank note green" and so forth). Give the speed of CPU's, and the presence
of specialized media instructions such as MMX and SSE2, I guess this
is now technically feasible. I also guess a number of people will now
stumble across perfectly legitimate images that trigger this "feature"
(False positives).
