You can select New from the File menu, or hit command N to open a new

viewer window. Similar to Mail, Finder, Safari.
No, not really. Command N in Mail gives a new message, not a new viewer
window. "New" giving a new browser window makes sense in a browser. It really
makes no sense for the Colorsync utility. Do the Preferences in the window
apply just to that window? What's the purpose of having multiple windows with
the Colorsync utility? To adjust the system-wide preferences while you
simultaneously verify profiles with First Aid? Sorry, but I don't get it, either.
Like Andrew, I used to quit the Colorsync utility and re-start it to get the
main window, until I tried New to see what it would do, and discovered that I
could re-open the main window (or, actually, re-create the main window). If
you close the main window in System Preferences, the app closes. Do the same
with the ColorSync utility, and the window goes away, but the app is still
running. Open and Open Recent both open icc profiles, so you'd (naively) think
New would create a new icc profile. Nope! A new window, with a tool bar
across the top. Hmmm... Since I just made this new document (?) window, maybe
I should Save it. Nope! Can't save it. But, hey, I can make 50 new
windows with the obligatory Preferences, Profile First Aid, Profiles, Devices,
Filters... Cool! What do I do with them? Oh, close them...
It seems the elegance and simplicity and intuitiveness are fading...
