"...unless you have exactly the same lens and lighting set-up every time
and I would think voltage regulated quartz lights or strobes....
That discussion made sense to me - this one is throwing me for a loop."
Well, unfortunately you need to pick from camp A or Camp B. Camp A of which
I am a member maintains that one carefully made profile can be used under
many light sources if properly gray balanced, for most but not all cameras.
The others seem to only require a tungsten and a strobe profile to cover
most light sources. In my mind this approach has proven itself out from my
own and many others experience shooting every day for a living.
Camp B maintains that you simply can't profile a camera or you need to do it
for each light source or each setup. This seems to be borne out by their
experience.
So take your pick!
