Thanks David for your help.
My dual strobe setup was intended to simulate real life in the studio but for a
general purpose profile, and in the studio too since I did not think about that
the software might be confused by slightly different flash temperatures, I will
use a single well controlled light source.
The trick with the flashing highlights will still work with a single light
source and it is very helpful to see the how the illumination is setup.
The idea of taking multiple photos of a patch at a time was not my idea. It
helps in many ways but it adds an other variable: The requirement to keep the
light source identical for all shots.
If incandescent, it is very sensitive to voltage and the intensity and color
temperature will change quickly.
If strobe, and the internal regulation is not good, its output will vary too.
