iQueue
iQueue

A silly question. But...here goes. A client of mine needs an application
that's able to poll continuously a designated directory, on a Windows system
(Win2k), to convert image placed in there by some client application from
sRGB to some output profile I created.
This looks like the perfect iQueue application. Except that I can't change
directories between input and output! The output directory must be the same
as the input directory for further processing to take place in this
photofinishing system. I know this sounds crazy but that's a constraint I
can't change (believe me I tried). As a workaround, I was thinking of
possibly setting the archive bit (make it 1) of files on the way out so
that, when iQueue or some similar apps scans the input directory for new
comers, it would only touch files that have the archive bit unset (0).
I don't think that this is a very hard application to program, building a
loop for scanning files in a certain path, and calling ICM API to conduct a
matching session with the name of the file passed as argument, save back the
file with the archive bit set and move on to the next file.
I'm open to ideas. And if anyone knows of someone would might be interested
to help, for a fee, to code such an application (VisualBasic?) please
contact me offlist.
Boy, the length one has to go through to get color management to work!
