Scripting support is built into Photoshop CS with no additional plug-ins
required. Java is cross-platform, Mac version supports AppleScript, Win
version supports VB.

I wouldn't call VB pure "scripting". Don't get me wrong - VB is very
powerful and it will do just about anything - if you are a programmer.
I've used VB for applications, (VBA vs VB - there is a difference) It
is a object oriented programming langauge. Did you ever see the printed
manuals? all four thousand some odd pages? Or perhaps use the "on line"
VB help that makes no sense? Like I noted, you need to be a programmer
and understand MS definitions of the terms they use. I'm not a VB
programmer and for me to use VBA for what I needed to do was not an easy
task. Then a year later MS goes and upgrades something and some of my
code don't work any more. Thanks Bill. So I'm not a real big fan of VB
or VBA. I think Adobe could have made a better decision on a scripting
langauge. Most people who use graphic apps like PS are artist type
persons and not technical or programming people and they will never use
VB or VBA
I never tried Apple Script. Not because I dislike it. I just never got
around to it.
