13.8 Volts refer to the voltage I found I have to drive 4700K-rated Solux
bulbs in order to obtain light measuring true D50 chromaticities. That's in
the center of the beam (I use the 35 degree bulbs). Like, if I place the
beam at 18" away fom my desk, I get about an 8 to 9" beam having D50
chromaticies. Then it rapidly decays to warmer and warmer light from that
point on.

So I make sure I only view color in that 9" beam and I know I'm OK.

Problem is that, at a distance of 18", I get 4220 Lux! Which is way too much
for making proof to screen comparisons. But the #@$% TaskLamp head won't go
higher than 24" and at that distance the illuminance is still too high --
2630 Lux. I'd like to get it even further down. I know I can attach the
light to the ceiling but then I have to change beam angle (I should order
the 17 degree bulbs then?) but I'm tired of experimenting with that bulb for
now, so I leave it at that.
