Hi, I am ready to buy a Sony Artisan - like today! ;-0
I've seen a couple out in the field that I thought were questionable,
having some trouble with gray uniformity. The users were aware of the
problem and had struggled over bothering with exchanging them,
deciding to live with the lack of uniformity. The problem was not bad
enough to merit certainty for an exchange, and the users decided on
keeping them as is. I've also seen many that made me drool, which is
why I want one!
In 2000 I bought a Sony GDM F-500R that had very disappointing gray
uniformity right out of the box. It took four rounds of exchanges to
get one this good. The first one was delivered broken and wet, the
second and third were so fuzzy I couldn't believe it, and I settled
on the fourth unit with the gray uniformity problem. The fuzzy
displays were confirmed by Sony. The reseller was terrific about the
exchanges.
Needless to say I want things to go smoothly this time with my
Artisan! Would buying direct from Sony be my safest bet? They have a
free shipping deal going on that makes the price less painful.
