I can't fathom a reason there would be an advantage and if anything, it's a
disadvantage. Of course some rational explanation from Apple that dates past
the old LaserWriter gamma matching way back in 84 would be useful.

I've asked on this list a number of times why 2.2 wasn't used when a clean
slate was available after OSX came about but as yet, an answer has never
materialized. Why did OSX stay with this 1.8 legacy?
