Apple has such a hard time supporting it as a standard.
This whole debate sounds awfully political to me pitting 2.2 against 1.8,
sRGB against genericRGB, with 2.2 being presented as the bad guys
(Windows-like) and 1.8 being presented as the messiah that will saveguard us
from seeing wrong memory colors. Oh gosh.
Apple wants the whole world to buy into their vision of 'digital hub' yet
they want the whole world to continue living in the middle-ages of color
with genericRGB and 1.8 gamma.
I can't help thinking of the masses of consumers, every day around the world
migrating to digital photography, litteraly pumping zillions of digitally
captured scenes, internally rendered to sRGBb by their friendly Canons, HPs,
Kodaks, Epsons and Nikons, but all being rendered to 'genericRGB' and gamma
1.8 the minute they cross the doorstep of the Mac.
What a mess Apple.
