Jim,
On Drupa last month we launched AbsoluteProof version 4 that now has
Postscript ripping and PDF processing abilities.
There are several other features we have added such as PDF out for remote
proofing. Tiff out, dot gain control, Linearization wizard, driver for the
Epson 4000, ability to print lager images than 92 inches on the Epson line
of printers and several other additions.
We process PostScript files in 3 different ways. Composite RGB or CMYK
Files are colormatched to either RGB or CMYK profiles selected in
AbsoluteProof. Separated Postscript, CMYK information is matched to the CMYK
profile and Pantone and other special colors are matched to the built in
Pantone library and colormatched to the best ability of the proofing device.
Running a device like the Roland in Hexachrome mode gives the ability to
match colors such as Pantone O21 and other colors in the orange range that
can not be matched on devices such as Epson and HP running with CMYK inks.
