Since the guy is away, I say we hit the house! Really, would you
want to advertise NOBODY'S HOME to the world? (and just who do these
people think they are anyway - getting a vacation - I'm jealous and
they deserve to be robbed just for throwing it in our faces)

Well...the guy appears to work for
CityPhoto of St. Louis (CITY-MAC-DOM)
2635 Hampton
St. Louis, MO 63139-2968
so I figure he lives is the St. Louis area. Since we know his name it
shouldn't be hard to do a reverse look-up on his address (especially
if we have a map that shows the relevant suburbs...). Even if he has
an unlisted line I figure it'd only take another few minutes to find
his home address. Then there's thirty minutes for the drive-by if
we're in the area. By then we're ready to take the place down.
Geesh!! Don't people have any idea how **stupid** it is to broadcast
their travel plans on the internet. I doubt that any regular
subscriber would consider burglary, but that doesn't mean that there
aren't other listeners out there.
If you go on vacation *sign off all your lists* (or use a downloading
daemon or your lists' no-mail option). Auto-reply should only go to
non-list items in your address book (and preferentially only to close
friends/business contacts).
<personal note>
We were burgled recently and I can tell you that the hassle of
replacing the items that were replaceable, and the distress of
evaluating the items that can never be replaced, is something that no
one should have to experience. (The horses are out of the barn but
we're still getting an alarm....)
