Hmmm, I'll bite.
I thought that the meaning of remote proofing was that it had to do with
proofing an image or page being reproduced at a "distant or remote site"
on a monitor or a printer. And if you had your monitor and printer
calibrated and profiled so that you would get a close visual match to the
originator of the image/page.
I also thought that in any type of remote proofing scenario you could send
the remote site any type of file such as a tiff, PSD or PDF and use the
source files embedded profile and the remotes site will use the output
devices destination profiles and some calculated luck to get a visual match.
Does this sound simple enough? To me it does, but for others who might not
understand applications like Photoshop, ID,AI and Acrobat and then be
focused on ICC profiles with all of the ICC based things you need to know,
it can be a nightmare.
