Old Artisan !

Dear List

I have just taken delivery of a new old Sony Artisan monitor. On checking the serial number to enter into our records I was very surprised to read that the date of manufacture is stated as Dec 2002.

Is this an old model and do monitors age even if unused? If anyone has recently bought one of these screens I would be interested in knowing what the date is on the back.
