Pardon my ignorance but why is not possible in this case to preseparate in Photoshop and do nothing re CM from then on?

That's more or less what I'm doing. I'm printing to an Epson inkjet so I'm sending RGB data. I can covert to a printer profile in Photoshop and then send those files through another application with no further CM. Even that is trickier than it sounds. In iView Media Pro, I have to strip the embedded profile for such a workflow to print correctly. If the file contains an embedded profile some sort of unknown transform is happening behind the scenes. But the whole problem with this workflow is that it means maintaining a set of files that have already been converted to a custom profile for a specific printer, ink and paper stock. If I want to print a batch of these images again several months from now that may not be a valid profile any more... or maybe I want to print to a different printer. If so I start all over again batch converting everything in Photoshop. Its a needless hassle. I ought to be able to have a set of files archived in a common working space and output them as needed without having to go through these extra steps. Isn't that the whole point of all of this technology? It's no big deal for the occasional print but the whole reason I'm printing from an application besides Photoshop is because I have a large volume of images to output at once... preferably in an at least semi automated fashion.

I'm looking into Qimage on a Windows box. I haven't tried it yet but it seems to offer exactly what I'm looking for.... a simple way to send multiple files in a color managed way to an inkjet printer. Any experiences out there?

Thanks

Bob Smith
